But where are the clowns? Quick, send in the clowns. Don’t bother, they’re here.

You’re a Conservative voter and you will never countenance voting Labour but the current Tory leadership and government are catastrophically tearing Britain apart, crashing its economy and generally ripping the fabric of all that you used to hold dear into shreds. What can you do?

Option a) You can put your fingers in your ears, close your eyes, la la la your way into a malcontented stupor and hope that a miracle occurs that somehow fixes the mess the Tories are making without you having to make any kind of assessment of the sort of person you are and how that compares with the sort of person you would like to think you are.

Option b) You can take a deep breath and bite the bullet and reexamine your political loyalties. What you’ll discover is that you have been betrayed by the current Tory leadership, who are abusing your conservative politics. You can then demand a change in the Conservative party that more honestly reflects the politics that you feel best serve your interests.

Option c) You can go rogue and look at the political landscape anew. Is there another party out there, regardless of their banner, offering the sort of politics that resonate with you? Maybe you should consider switching to a brand that actually represents your best interests.

Option d) Stick a firecracker up your arse, light it and jump out of tenth floor window. Maybe you’ll fly.

See, that wasn’t so bad. You have options and they even apply if you’re a Conservative MP. Are there any right-minded Conservative MPs who aren’t looking aghast at the abomination of May’s government? You thought things were bad under the incompetent Cameron but, oh my goodness, May has ushered in a whole new level of shitbrained haplessness. Even Andrea Leadsom is looking like a rational pair of hands right now and she’s the one who thinks bringing back fox hunting is the big issue and the solution for post EU exit Britain is to replace pensions with fruit picking as the source of income for the elderly. The phrase ‘dying on its arse’ was made for such moments.

What about the rest of us? More people voted to remain in the EU than voted for the Conservatives and none of us voted for them to have a mandate to any of what they’ve done in the past 6 years. Personally, I can’t see any other option than replacing the Tories in government with a progressive coalition built on moderate voices across all parties, including the Conservatives but we have a government content to ignore the will of the people, propped up by the most corrupting media in Europe.

It’s easy and very British to try and joke about the state this country is in right now but we really have the clowns running the show. People will put their own personal political leanings ahead of trying to fix our situation and things will get worse. We even have idiots who believe that what we really need right now is to descend into a new Cold War with Russia. We have all the wrong “thinkers” playing games with real people’s lives and I can’t see that ending well.
